Love

what a gift for “just” being … my lovely sun Selwyn in the most beautiful light today …

Pure Joy …

… is for a photographer to photograph a child like this little boy … he always has this most amazing eye contact as well as charming infectious smile (to be more accurate laugh) is comfortable with camera and spreads joy around like a reviving Spring rain …

Selwyn

He is my youngest .. another 33nights and he will celebrate his first year being a little person.Sometimes people wonder about his name .. so I thought I may share the story.

When I started doing photography I have joined an international photography community where I discovered Jill Coleman .. South African photographer .. Part of her work consisted of series  Kleine Karoo people .. one of the people she photographed  was a boy named Selwyn the moment I saw him my heart jumped … what a soul .. the moment I knew if I ever have a little boy I will name him Selwyn .. what a surprise it was to find out the meaning of this name. Selwyn is an old English name .. meaning Friend of The Palace or Castle ..  As his older brothers have two names .. we thought it would be nice to find him a second name too .. nothing really matched … untill I came across the name Essien … it is an African name meaning the sixth born son … which for my husband our little Selwyn is …

Well here he is .. my little Selwyn Essien in his little chubby white body .. deep blue eyes and blond hair .. …  (almost exact opposite of Jill’s Selwyn) ..  I love watching him exploring the world .. exploring his own being … I love feeling his calm presence not worrying about hairstyle, second chin or stretchy drool as he crawls around the house .. he can be the master of a stare … (oh how many people tried to make him smile while he was looking through their eyes deep deep in their souls … and he would hardly ever give in … )  .. he gives out his generous and kind smiles and makes people wonder ..   he is so much in him .. and in this world .. so peaceful yet quick  to explore … I feel very special he has chosen me …

(excuse the amount of images in this post … it is so hard not to share :) )

Sneak a peak ..

It always amazes me the way newborns come to this world and the way they are for the first few weeks .. like if the  soul was only just moving in and weaving it’s energy in each and every inch of our most perfect bodies … that most of us as the life goes slowly start to take for granted .. I again got amused by the way babies look around at this world .. like if there is something we no longer see as we grow and become bigger kids and adults ..

I was honored to photograph (and cuddle in with) another new special being .. meet Master T ..  sweet little man .. a perfect gift to his lovely parents …
